Loan Peña's family accuses lawyer of embezzlement

The family of Loan Danilo Peña, the child who went missing in Corrientes almost a year ago, has accused former plaintiff lawyer Juan Pablo Gallego of diverting $12.5 million intended for investigations into the phones of the detainees. According to the family, Gallego fled before completing the work, leaving seven detainees expected to go to trial.

Mariano Peña, Loan's brother, stated that their parents gave the money to Gallego to collaborate with Julio López, a cybersecurity specialist. However, after handing over the money, Gallego resigned, refused to answer the family's questions, and blocked them.

Loan's family has decided to file a formal complaint against Gallego for embezzlement. Mariano Peña recounted that after Gallego's resignation, they attempted to obtain answers regarding the progress of the case, but the lawyer did not respond and blocked them, raising suspicions about his actions and the fate of the funds provided.

Sources close to the case have confirmed that all reports and data collected during the investigation were delivered to the overseeing judge after Gallego's resignation. On the other hand, Julio López has stated that he never received the promised money and that he had offered his services for free from the beginning.

In response to the accusations, Gallego's associates have labeled the complaint as 'ridiculous, infamous, and absolutely false.' Furthermore, this is not the Peñas' first legal trouble, as lawyer Fernando Burlando had previously resigned from the case for similar reasons.

On June 13, it will be a year since the disappearance of Loan Danilo Peña in the Corrientes town of 9 de Julio, while the family continues to face obstacles in their search for justice and answers.
